HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Ho Ho Ho! LBP is giving the love for the end of the year. The new DLC has all kinds of cool additional comment. Watch the video and see some of it in action. Besides the 4 sackboy’s for the price of 3, if you get the bundle you also get a ton of other presents. Here’s the list as they give it:
A 5th Sackboy costume…the Gurlokovich Soldier (see above).
72 New Stickers
12 New Materials
10 New Decorations
18 New objects
New background music track
3 new interactive music tracks
New Metal Gear Solid themed ‘sound object’
New Plasma Ball ‘danger element’
New Laser Sight ‘gadget’
New functioning Searchlight lamp
12 new Trophies to unlock
and best of all…..THE PAINTINATOR and Paint Switch

As if that wasn’t enough to stuff your sack stockings, the 1.07 patch has gone live.
This patch has everything you could want. From the official patch notes:
Play
New Search Modes: More ways to find interesting levels like Most Hearted, Highest Rated and Busiest!
In-game Store: Browse, buy and play downloadable content, such as the soon-to-be-released Metal Gear Solid packs, without needing to go to the Playstation Store

Create
Save As: Save your level to a different slot on the moon while mid-edit.

Share
Keyboard text chat: Plug a standard USB keyboard into your PS3 and just start typing. Or, press Tab on your keyboard to go straight to the standard PS3 text entry screen.
Image export: save the photos you take in game to your hard drive.
General fixes, polishing and improvements, including:
Fixed “Wheel of death” bug where Sackboy could get stuck endlessly respawning out of a checkpoint
Better support for third party controllers
Fixed stretch Sackboy arms
General server improvements and optimization
Improved the corner (vertex) editing tool
Improvements to how Popit deals with complex shapes
Improved Sackboy animation and made it harder to slap accidentally while acting
Fixed lights so they don’t forget their colour
Improved Online multiplayer level selection

I’m extremely excited for the paintinator, better searches, IMAGE EXPORT to the hard drive, and reduced accidental slapping. I love to dance so much, I’m always slapping at the wrong time! Maybe the in-game store will save me some time, though I’m getting a little bothered by the way they try and make the extra dollars with some of the lesser content (LOCOROCO costumes, I’m looking at you).
Note: 1.07 is titled Roqueforte and is 67mb.

Here is a video showboating the new in-game store.

Loco Sacko Roco

All kinds of costumey stuff. LBP is getting nonstop attention and content and that makes me happy. I wonder when they’ll be adding new functionality or parts rather than pretty costumes.

Let’s see… there are crowns for people who won LittleBigChallenge that coincided with PS3’s second birthday.

Since LocoRoco 2 is just over the horizon, we’ve been gifted sacostumes with a loco theme. Personally, I think a few of these seem a little creepy (I think it’s the clown-like lip coloring), but I’d still love to slap sack around using those little guys on the wrists. As usual these things are bundled at 2.99 for all 5.

And finally we all know you’ve been addicted and madly in love with your TV since LBP came out, so what better way to show your appreciation than wearing the free TV costume part. This was actually a winner of an LBChallenge made for everyone.

Anticipated Awwwwesome

I know what you’re thinking: the LBP level editor is so perfect, how could they add anything to it without making it more complex? If you’re tired of using your PSeye to build stickers for decorating your level, I’m looking at you.

Two words: Image Imports.

1-up gave us some great info from Alex Evans (Media Molecure co-founder). The articled describes that the imports tools were originally planned for release, but they should be patch in by christmas.

Frankly, I think it makes an excellent holiday gift, and I’m getting curious to see what other holiday costumes will be released.

UPDATE: The littlebigplanet community manager doesn’t like unnoficial rumors that might lead to reduced pseye sales so he told us not to believe it.

LittleBigServer Issues

You may have been experiencing trouble playing online or playing on published levels. The servers were down for awhile, and back up to be hammered again. Even if there are online issues (like every major game release), I’m loving every minute.

Take this as an opportunity to unlock as many items from story mode as possible or create that level you’ve been dreaming up. At least we have official word that they are working around the clock and “expect it to improve shortly” and we can rest assured that the community is still at work getting ready to publish all kinds of great levels.

Still no word on the spacesack and week one t-shirt, but we’ll keep you posted. At least you can stare at it and drool for now.

Playstation3 Eye™ For Cheap, Today Only!

If you want to do custom artwork for your levels in LBP, you’ll need an Eye camera… and today’s Amazon Gold Box deal is just that. The Playstation3 Eye for $22.98! You can’t beat that with a stick!

UPDATE: Sad news… Amazon has sold out. Hope you got while the getting was good.

Servers are Up!!!

The multi-player servers just went up, so hot dog, leave work early / call in sick and play play play!!

When can we Pre-Order LBP2?

Although LittleBigPlanet doesn’t “officially” come out until today, guess what! You are going to get a second one!  In a BBC News article on game development in the UK, some awesome news:

Even before the game has hit the shops, the team are already at work on a sequel.

I don’t know about you, but I’m rather excited.

The Patch has Patched

For anyone who managed to get a pre-recall copy, a 54M patch updating LittleBigPlanet came out late last night which brings the game to version 1.02 and removes the lyrics from the song that may have offended some. As of now, their multiplayer servers are still not up, but I suspect that will happen tomorrow.

The Song Stays… YOU GO!

I’ve heard from a reliable source that they have simply removed the “questionable” lyrics, and kept the awesome song in the game.

Glad that’s cleared up. Now I can spend my time brainstorming my first few level designs… because I’m still at work.

Explanations without Reparations?

Toumani Diabate, sent info to MTV multiplayer about his “controversial” track.

“They note the complication that there is no explicit rule in Islam prohibiting a song like Diabate’s.”

Delayed for no explicit reason?! I’m not sure this is very comforting. At least he explains his reasoning behind the song I will never hear in game, and that is something all the news about its removal has left out.
